The eMOTIONAL Cities ambition is to provide accurate and neuroscience-based guidance on urban planning in order to achieve healthier, sustainable and more inclusive communities for present and future generations. Our approach aims at joining various scientific areas of research – natural, medical and social sciences–drive highly relevant outcomes for society, bring challenging questions for researchers, and contribute to a paradigm shift in urban planning practice, education and policy.

eMOTIONAL CITIES ANNUAL MEETING
The eMOTIONAL Cities project Annual Meeting took place on November 22nd & 23rd in Lisbon (Great Hall of the Rectory of the University of Lisbon, Portugal). These two days were fully dedicated to assess the co-work developed and to discuss the future and challenges of urban health with experts and the general public:

- Day 1– Scientific & Management Board Meeting - private meeting for consortium partners to assess the current status of the project and to discuss the future of the project in the short/medium term;
- Day 2–“eMOTIONAL Cities: Debate on the future of urban health” - public event for disseminate and discuss the project outputs to date.

The eMOTIONAL Cities project has achieved its second milestone.
A range of updates to the eMOTIONAL Cities website are available on our website (emotionalcities-h2020/).

The training session "Building Capacities to Integrate the Gender dimension in research projects“, promoted by the Gearing-Roles project, took place at IGOT. ULisboa (Portugal) on February 10th.

IUPE Congress 2022, under the scope of the UN's New Urban Agenda, that specifically addresses the theme “Managing Change”, will be held in Tartu, Estonia July 29th - August 2nd, 2022.

REACHING OUT TO THE PUBLIC
|

|
Reaching the end of its first year, the eMOTIONAL Cities project consortium has submitted 20 deliverables to the European Commission, 11 of which available to the public.
|

|
|
A short video presenting the project, with the direct involvement of several members of the eMOTIONAL Cities team, was released during the Annual Meeting.

An article about eMOTIONAL Cities project was published on January 14th on the SMARTCITIES Magazine. It highlighted that during the next four years, the eMOTIONAL Cities project will attempt to understand how the urban environment affects people's mental health, in particular those who suffer from mild cognitive impairment. More than finding a therapy for these patients the aim is to make urban planning more preventive in this matter.
