The eMOTIONAL Cities project is organising the 1st International Symposium on NeuroUrbanism and NeuroArchitecture, which will take place at MAAT Central, in Lisbon, on February 25 & 26, 2025.
This event will bring together diverse fields of expertise, including architecture, urban planning, neuroscience, technology, and data science, the goal is to foster debate, share perspectives, develop evidence-based knowledge, and build healthier, more sustainable, and resilient cities to face the major challenges of our time, such as climate change, rapid urbanization, overpopulation, and biodiversity loss.
The program includes the presentation of the results of the European project eMOTIONAL Cities and two roundtable discussions, which will explore the contribution of neuroscience to urban planning and monitoring, as well as the future of architectural design. It will also feature demonstrations of the use and relevance of cutting-edge technology (portable EEG, eye tracking, multisensory wristbands, virtual and augmented reality, and portable climate sensors) for collecting psychophysiological and environmental data in urban contexts.
